In March…

… I learned a beautiful Italian expression – l’arte d’arrangiarsi, or “the art of making something out of nothing”. And it came at a time when I was feeling thoroughly uninspired, dissatisfied and frustrated. It was exactly what I needed — a reminder to stretch my imagination a little bit more, to start dreaming again and believe, to never settle for a life of quiet desperation, and to stay grounded but also keep my head in the clouds.

And so, I looked down and saw leaves and grass and realized how graceful they dance in the wind.

I saw drops that looked like jewels.

I looked up and saw clouds that spoke of hope and a promise of rain.

I realize it’s easy to feel complete and hopeful when you’re basking in the warmth of the sun, but when the sky darkens, it’s just as easy to lose sight of the important things. But of course, I’ve known that all along.
